On display now at Weston Park Museum, Proud! has been co-curated by LGBT+ people living in Sheffield to explore the city’s LGBT+ history and contemporary life. Some of this history can seem hidden, but it’s all around us and part of who we are.
Together, Museums Sheffield and the city's LGBT+ community explored themes and stories for the display, and discussed their experiences and ideas. Themes included historical and inspirational people, coming out, discrimination and prejudice, Sheffield’s LGBT+ scene, family and friends, AIDS and HIV, and inclusion.
As well as the displays curated with the co-curation group, there is also a case with masks created by young people at LGBT+ charity SAYiT.
