Join the Showroom cinema for its first anime festival: Sheffield Loves Anime. The event is part of the We Love Anime 2021 programme touring cinemas across the UK.
Taking place over one weekend in November, the festival features cult and contemporary anime, with a special focus on women writers. There'll also be an afternoon of gaming with Treehouse Board Game Cafe on the Saturday, and an anime drawing workshop with graffiti artist Trik 09 on the Sunday (now fully booked!).
Festival passes give access to all eight films (£65 adult / £49 concessions / £31 for members of the Showroom's free Cine26 scheme for those aged 26 and under). Tickets are also available for individual screenings.

A Silent Voice
19 November, 6pm – book now
Shoya starts bullying the new girl in class, Shoko, because she is deaf. But as the teasing continues, the rest of the class starts to turn on Shoya for his lack of compassion. When they leave elementary school, Shoko and Shoya do not speak to each other again – until an older, wiser Shoya, troubled by his past behaviour, decides he must see Shoko once more. He wants to atone for his past behaviour, but wonders if it is too late.
The film which Makoto Shinkai, director of Your Name, called a "fantastic piece of work", and based on the critically acclaimed manga by Yoshitoki Oima, A Silent Voice shows that sometimes the answer is as simple as learning to listen.
