Join Arts Catalyst for a hypnotic and sensorial evening of live experimental electronic music by Nkisi, KMRU and Ashley Holmes at SADACCA’s GMill, with sound provided by Sinai Sound System. Expect ambient dream-like noise, dark synthesiser melodies, hyper-modern club sounds and intricate Afrocentric percussion.
The event is part of Skylarking, an exhibition and public programme by Sheffield-based artist, DJ and broadcaster Ashley Holmes, that explores the relationship between landscapes, music and belonging. Sounds from the Ground is a series of workshops and performances that explore landscapes and ecologies through sound.
Nkisi is a visual artist, musician, DJ and producer creating futuristic and powerful sonics influenced by ancient Kongo rhythms, rhythmic noise, our planetary electromagnetic grid, and experimental improvisation. Sound artist and producer KMRU is internationally acclaimed for his ambient experimental music releases, creative compositions, installations and performances. Ashley Holmes is a multidisciplinary artist working across sound, video, radio broadcasts and performance whose work explores the language, sound, movement and foundations of Black musical tradition.
