The Vaselines perfected their raw and unpolished blend of provocative innocence and harsh tenderness back in 1992 with the release of their debut album, Enter the Vaselines.
With a good dose of playfulness, smut and innuendo, their music captures the essence of pure, joyful pop in its most unpretentious form. It’s seen them gain admiration from all over the world – most famously from Kurt Cobain who continuously cited them as an influence and covered their songs, accelerating their rise to cult stardom.
Although they’ve only released a handful of records throughout their 33 year career – the last, V for Vaselines, coming in 2014 – their if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it approach to song craft has seen them remain current, inspiring kids everywhere to pick up guitars and start singing about their own infatuated youth.
