Vieux Farka Touré is an internationally respected guitarist from Mali known as the ‘Hendrix of the Sahara’. Inspired and propelled by the far-reaching legacy of his late father Ali Farka Touré and the Songhai music of northern Mali, Touré has incorporated influences from American blues, rock, jazz, pop and Latin music into his work.
Renowned for his hypnotic live performances, he is a bonafide worldwide guitar hero. Having released nine albums, including his most recent collaboration with psych band Khruangbin, his star continues to rise way beyond the tag of ‘world music’.
