Gut Level is a community space focusing on dance music, club culture and platforming local artists and creative grassroots organisers. It puts LGBTQIA+ folk, women and gender minorities at the heart of what it does.
Since launching in 2019, Gut Level has become a remarkably successful and beloved creative hub, running workshops and community gardening sessions, as well as daytime events and late night parties.
After a string of temporary locations, in spring 2024 Gut Level moved into their permanent new home on Chapel Walk in Sheffield city centre. There, they've turned a former cafe into a welcoming community space, licensed bar and venue, complete with roof terrace. To help them turn the dream into the reality, they turned to the wider community, running a mega impressive fundraising campaign.
Gut Level’s space on Chapel Walk now opens more regularly, with a bar running five nights a week, plus co-working by day on Wednesdays to Fridays. Among that, established events in the calendar include communal meals, an art club, craft social, QTIBPOC film club, and pub quiz. And, of course, club nights are still a huge part of what they do.
Gut Level is run on a not-for-profit, members-only basis. Membership is as inclusive as it comes, with three tiers, starting from £2 a year – sign up now.
