Join multimedia artist and illustrator Habiba Nabisubi for a collage workshop celebrating the textured beauty and versatility of Afro hair.
Using Habiba’s own illustrations of hair as your creative springboard, you will be encouraged to cut up and (re)construct your own unique artwork. So bring an open mind and plenty of imagination – no previous experience necessary!
This event is connected to the museum's current exhibition Hair: Untold Stories.
Habiba Nabisubi is a multimedia artist, educator, mental health advocate and illustrator based in South London. Having lived in both Kampala, Uganda as well as the UK, she draws inspiration from both sides of her heritage and lived experience when creating new work.
Habiba is a visual storyteller, who makes work that she feels is relevant, usually rooted within topics that are bigger than herself with the hope that they inspire some kind of feeling. She would describe her work as engaging, inclusive, conversation starters and an opportunity for learning. With authentic representation being a fundamental theme throughout. She is passionate about facilitating conversations and workshops (for all people) around mental health and the catharsis of having a creative outlet.
